Gemma Montagut holds a degree in Biochemistry from Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona, where she also completed her PhD in Biochemistry in 2009.
Continuing with her research career, she moved to the United Kingdom where she held two postdoctoral positions first at the University of Sheffield and later at the University of Dundee. In 2015, Dr. Montagut transitioned into lab management, taking on a role at Brunel University of London. This marked the beginning of her shift toward operational and administrative responsibilities in research environments. Shortly after, she joined University College London (UCL), where she further developed her skills as a lab manager. At UCL, she also started her involvement in clinical research, working as a Clinical Study Coordinator and gaining hands-on experience in managing clinical studies.
In 2022, she returned to Catalonia, initially as a Clinical Study Coordinator at Bellvitge University Hospital, overseeing clinical trials and ensuring compliance with research protocols. She then joined the Institute for Biomedical Research (IRB) in Barcelona as a lab manager, where she played a key role in supporting cutting-edge biomedical research.
Dr. Montagut has participated in numerous research projects resulting in several publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented her findings at both national and international conferences, promoting collaboration within the scientific community.
Currently, she works as a Clinical Research Manager at IrsiCaixa, where she oversees clinical research operations within the Clinical Management Unit.
