Judit Farré Badia
Judit Farré holds a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). During her studies, she completed an internship at the UAB Institute of Neurosciences, collaborating on projects related to neuroinflammation and ALS. She also took part in the ResisChip project, focused on developing an RNA chip for the early detection of bacterial resistance, including a training placement at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT). She spent part of her final academic year at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) through the Erasmus+ program, and gained hands-on clinical experience at Germans Trias i Pujol and Sant Pau hospitals.
With a growing interest in bioinformatics, she pursued a Master’s in Bioinformatics at UAB, specializing in high-performance computing and Big Data analysis. During her professional internship at IrsiCaixa, she developed a bioinformatics tool for metagenomic microbiome analysis. In parallel, she worked as a private tutor and as a substitute lecturer in the subject of Microbiology at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
She is currently pursuing a PhD in Bioinformatics with the Microbial Genomics group at IrsiCaixa, aiming to investigate the interactions between the microbiome and the immune system using artificial intelligence techniques.
