Summary
We are seeking for an enthusiastic and motivated pre-doctoral fellow to join TRIA Group (Translational Research in Immunology and Ageing) at IrsiCaixa located at Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol (Biomedical Campus Can Ruti, Badalona). The selected candidate will contribute to a project investigating immune aging and metabolic dysfunction in people with HIV receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). The project aims to unravel how age at infection and timing of ART initiation shape long-term immune function, metabolic alterations, and risk of age-related comorbidities. Using a longitudinal multi-omic approach, the fellow will characterize immune and metabolic pathways and identify potential therapeutic targets to mitigate accelerated aging in people with HIV on ART. The TRIA group has extensive experience in translational immunology, working closely with clinical collaborators and international partners. The PhD student will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing studies, contribute to experimental design and data analysis, and develop new lines of research within a highly collaborative environment. The candidate will need to work at Biosafety level 3 (BSL3) facilities.
For this PhD opportunity, the selected candidate will work closely with the PI to apply for personal fellowship funding from competitive programs such as FI–Joan Oró (AGAUR), Fundación Ramón Areces PhD Fellowships, FPU (Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades), INPhNiT “La Caixa” Foundation, among others.
