Summary
IrsiCaixa is seeking a highly motivated Junior Bioinformatician to join its Bioinformatics Unit.
As a leading institution in biomedical research, IrsiCaixa generates and manages large volumes of complex data that are essential for advancing scientific knowledge in infectious diseases, immunity, and cancer.
The successful candidate will work closely with researchers to analyze and interpret biomedical data, contributing to cutting-edge research projects within the Bioinformatics Unit.
Candidate profile and qualifications
- Strong programming skills in Python and R for data analysis and visualization.
- Experience in developing and maintaining pipelines within Linux environments.
- Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC), including parallel execution and workload managers.
- Knowledge of using and developing software containers (e.g., Docker, Singularity).
- Familiarity with good software development practices, including collaborative workflows using Git and platforms like GitHub.
- Background in biology or life sciences.
- Experience with databases and clinical data management will be a plus.
- Knowledge of NGS, genomic and transcriptomic data including single-cell will be an asset.
- Basic knowledge of statistics/statistical modeling, particularly as applied to biological data will be a plus.
- Willingness to learn if missing any of the above.
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative research team, taking responsibility for your own tasks and projects.
- Commitment to maintain regular communication with the supervisor.
- Good organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.
