The IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute launches a new website with renovated design, content and architecture

The IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute launches today its new website, located at the same URL (www.irsicaixa.es) but with completely new contents, web design and architecture in order to capture all the potential of the digital environment and offer a better user-oriented experience.

The web architecture has been renewed following the needs and interests of different social actors. Beyond the Home, the new website includes 5 specific landing pages targeted at the main typologies of users: researchers, community, teachers and/or students, funders and journalists. Aiming at facilitating the access to the most relevant content for each audience and at optimizing their experience, we provide a simple, clean and efficient browsing with a clear and intuitive architecture that allows easy location and access to the content.

The Home also includes a new browser menu to facilitate access to the main actions that can be performed on the website: reading the News section, requesting information about the training opportunities, making a donation or contacting the institution.

Responsive web design and graphic layout

Regarding the design, we have defined a new IrsiCaixa online identity, looking for an attractive, innovative and striking image. It is worth visiting the interactive timeline that allows to browse across time to know the history of IrsiCaixa and HIV/AIDS worldwide. The new website also incorporates a responsive web design, suitable for any type of device.

Content have also been renovated to emphasize the graphic layout, with larger images, videos, graphics and shorter texts. The Research section remains as the backbone of IrsiCaixa’s website, and for that reason we have made an effort to present the activity of the IrsiCaixa 8 research groups and its 5 strategic lines in an attractive way. In addition, there is a new and powerful IrsiCaixa’s scientific activity search engine.

From now on, the News section incorporates not only the IrsiCaixa scientific and institutional news, but also the Blog 365, where research groups and researchers explain their day to-day work from a more personal perspective. Another aspect worth highlighting is that researchers have a personal site where they can include their contact information, CV and outstanding publications.

New sections

We have also introduced new sections such as one for Transfer and Innovation, one for Learning and one for Collaborating. Finally, the Unit for Public Engagement on Health Research becomes the Living Lab for Health, where users can find information about IrsiCaixa’s educational and participatory programs, the Communication department and Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) training, outreach and consultancy.

All this puts the new IrsiCaixa website to a level appropriate to the rigor and quality of an institution leader in the field of biomedical research worldwide.
