Towards a more systemic healthcare model and research for Long Covid at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital

Long Covid is a disease that, according to the World Health Organization, affects 10% of people who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2. At Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, the Long Covid Unit was created in June 2020, with the support of the Fight Infections Foundation and IrsiCaixa. The Unit works to develop knowledge about the disease, develop protocols to fight Long Covid and provide a personalized treatment for those affected.

In 2021, a project was initiated to support the Unit in the design of a more comprehensive, collaborative and decentralized healthcare and research model for this disease. The final result was a Collective Action Plan with Innovation Programs to promote changes in the current model. The process involves different social actors such as health professionals, researchers and patients. So far, three strategic workshops have been held with the collaboration of 57 participants.
